Instructions
1️⃣ Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch pie dish or baking dish.
2️⃣ Prepare Filling
In a bowl, combine the sliced apples, 1/4 cup sugar, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg, and 1 tablespoon lemon juice. Toss well to coat.
3️⃣ Make the Crust
In a separate bowl, mix flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Add softened butter, milk, and the egg. Beat until the batter is smooth and well combined.
4️⃣ Assemble the Pie
Spread the batter evenly into the greased dish. Spoon the apple filling over the top.
5️⃣ Add Optional Topping
Sprinkle chopped nuts over the apples if using. In a small bowl, mix 1 tablespoon sugar with 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, then sprinkle over the top.
6️⃣ Bake
Bake for 40–45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the apples are tender.
7️⃣ Cool and Serve
Allow the pie to cool for 15–20 minutes. Serve warm, optionally with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.
