Oat Crumble Topping

  • 1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats

  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour

  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar

  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar

  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.

  2. Make the apple filling: In a bowl, toss sliced apples with sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice. Pour into the baking dish.

  3. Make the topping: In another bowl, mix oats, flour, brown sugar, granulated sugar, and cinnamon. Cut in cold butter until crumbly.

  4. Assemble & bake: Sprinkle the oat topping evenly over the apples.

  5. Bake for 40–45 minutes, until the top is golden and the apples are tender.

  6. Cool slightly and serve warm—with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream!
