Instructions

1. Prepare the Pan

Melt the butter directly in a 9-inch round cake pan. Arrange the banana slices evenly on the bottom of the pan. Sprinkle the sugar over the bananas.

2. Make the Batter

In a large bowl, whisk together the egg, milk, salt, and vanilla extract until well combined.

3. Combine Dry Ingredients

In another bowl, mix the flour and baking powder.

4. Mix Wet and Dry

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients. Stir gently until just combined. Add the vegetable oil and stir again until the batter is smooth.

5. Assemble the Cake

Pour the batter over the banana layer in the prepared pan, spreading it evenly.

6. Bake

Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

7. Cool and Invert

Let the cake cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Then carefully invert it onto a serving plate.

Serving Suggestion

Serve warm on its own, or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a drizzle of caramel sauce.
