Baked Apple Fritters – A Healthier Twist on a Classic
These delicious baked apple fritters bring all the cozy flavor of fall — cinnamon-spiced apples and a sweet glaze — without frying. They’re fluffy, warm, lightly crisp on the outside, and perfect with coffee or tea.

These baked apple fritters are soft, moist pastries filled with juicy apple chunks, cinnamon, and a touch of vanilla, then baked to golden perfection and drizzled with a light glaze. A healthier, easier version of the classic deep-fried treat!

Ingredients (Makes ~10–12 fritters)

For the fritters:

1 ½ cups all-purpose flour

¼ cup granulated sugar

1 ½ teaspoons baking powder

½ teaspoon cinnamon

¼ teaspoon salt

⅓ cup milk

2 eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

1 ½ cups peeled, chopped apples (Honeycrisp or Granny Smith work great)

Optional: ½ teaspoon nutmeg or allspice for extra warmth

For the glaze:
1 cup powdered sugar

2–3 tablespoons milk

½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

Preheat & Prep:
Preheat your oven to 190°C / 375°F.

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and lightly grease it.

Mix the Batter:
In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.

In a separate bowl, beat together milk, eggs, vanilla, and melted butter.

Add wet ingredients into the dry and mix just until combined (do not overmix).

Fold in chopped apples.

Shape the Fritters:
Drop spoonfuls of batter (around ¼ cup each) onto the baking sheet, spacing them out.

Flatten slightly with the back of a spoon.

Bake:
Bake for 15–18 minutes, or until lightly golden and cooked through.

Let cool slightly on a wire rack.

Make the Glaze:
Mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth.

Drizzle over warm fritters.

Serving Ideas
Best served warm with a cup of coffee or chai tea

Great as breakfast, dessert, or an afternoon snack

Dust with cinnamon sugar for extra crunch

Tips
Chop apples into small cubes so they bake evenly.

If using tart apples like Granny Smith, you can add a touch more sugar to the batter.

Store leftovers in an airtight container and reheat in the oven to restore crispness.
