Ingredients

For the pie:

2 sheets puff pastry (thawed) or homemade pie crust

5 cups thinly sliced apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp work well)

½ cup granulated sugar

2 tbsp all-purpose flour

1 tsp ground cinnamon

¼ tsp ground nutmeg

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 tbsp lemon juice

1 tbsp butter, cut into small cubes

1 egg (for egg wash, beaten with 1 tbsp water)

For the glaze:

1 cup powdered sugar

2–3 tbsp milk (or cream for richer flavor)

½ tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

1. Prep the oven & pan – Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a 10×15-inch jelly roll pan or baking sheet with parchment paper.

2. Prepare the filling – In a large bowl, combine sliced apples, granulated sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla, and lemon juice. Toss until apples are well coated.

3. Assemble the bottom crust – Place one sheet of puff pastry (or roll out homemade crust) onto the prepared pan, pressing it to fit.

4. Add filling – Spread the apple mixture evenly over the crust. Dot with butter cubes.

5. Top crust – Place the second sheet of puff pastry (or rolled-out crust) over the apples. Pinch edges to seal. Cut a few slits in the top to allow steam to escape. Brush with egg wash.

6. Bake – Bake for 35–40 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and filling is bubbling. Remove from oven and let cool for at least 20 minutes.

7. Make the glaze – Whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth. Adjust thickness with more sugar or milk as needed.

8. Glaze the pie – Drizzle glaze over the cooled pie. Let it set for 10 minutes before slicing into squares or rectangles.

This pie is great served warm or at room temperature—perfect for gatherings or as a cozy dessert
