This Southern-Style Creamy Cabbage Soup is a comforting and surprisingly rich dish. The simple flavors of tender cabbage, onion, and garlic are simmered in a savory broth, then finished with heavy cream and a hint of smoked paprika for a wonderfully smooth, warm, and satisfying meal.

Ingredients:

Ingredient Quantity

Green cabbage, chopped 1 medium head

Large onion, diced 1

Garlic, minced 3 cloves

Chicken or vegetable broth 4 cups

Heavy cream 1 cup

Butter 2 tablespoons

Smoked paprika ½ teaspoon

Salt and pepper To taste

Fresh parsley, chopped For garnish

How To Make Southern-Style Creamy Cabbage Soup:

Step 1: Sauté Aromatics: In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the diced onion and cook until soft and translucent, about 5 minutes. Add the minced garlic and cook for another 1-2 minutes, until fragrant.

Step 2: Cook Cabbage: Stir in the chopped cabbage and cook until it begins to soften, approximately 10 minutes.

Step 3: Simmer: Pour in the chicken or vegetable broth, bringing the mixture to a boil. Reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 20 minutes, until the cabbage is tender.

Step 4: Blend & Finish: Using an immersion blender, blend the soup until it reaches your desired consistency (blend only a portion for a chunkier texture). Stir in the heavy cream and smoked paprika, allowing the soup to heat through until creamy and well combined. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Step 5: Serve: Serve hot with a sprinkle of fresh parsley on top for garnish.
