Instructions:
Preheat the oven to 180°C (360°F).
Prepare the bread: Cut the French baguette in half lengthwise, then cut each half into quarters to create 8 pieces.
Prepare the garlic butter mixture: In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the grated garlic, chopped spring onions, and salt. Stir to combine and cook for a minute until fragrant. Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly.
Combine with egg: Beat the egg and sugar together in a bowl. Add the cooled garlic butter mixture to the egg mixture and stir until well combined.
Coat the breadsticks: Place the bread pieces on a baking tray. Using a spoon or brush, spread the garlic butter mixture generously over each piece of bread.
Bake: Place the tray in the preheated oven and bake for about 25 minutes, or until the breadsticks are golden and crispy.
Serve: Remove from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving.
