Trim crusts off the bread slices.
Flatten each slice with a rolling pin or your hands.
Place a slice of cheese near one end of the bread.
Roll the bread tightly around the cheese, pressing gently to seal.
In a shallow bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, salt, pepper, and optional seasonings.
Heat a non-stick pan over medium heat with a bit of butter or oil.
Dip each roll in the egg mixture, coating all sides.
Place in the pan seam-side down and cook until golden brown on all sides (about 2–3 minutes per side).
Serve immediately while the cheese is melted and gooey.
Great with ketchup, hot sauce, or a spicy yogurt dip!
Add a slice of ham, turkey, or cooked bacon before rolling.
Use cream cheese and herbs for a milder, creamy center.
For a sweet version, fill with cream cheese and jam or Nutella, and dust with cinnamon sugar after cooking.
