Blend the brown sugar, white sugar, and butter into a homogeneous mixture. Add the eggs, one by one, while beating, and then mix in the vanilla. Mix baking soda with boiling water until dissolved. Include in the batter with the salt. Add the flour, chocolate chips, and nuts and mix lightly. Spoon generous portions onto pans that have not been buttered.
Once the oven is hot, bake for about 10 minutes, or until the edges are well browned.
