Like baking soda, vinegar is also known for its deodorizing properties and, therefore, is often used to eliminate bad odors from clothes but also towels.
To use it, pour two tablespoons of white vinegar directly onto the area of the head where the smell of sweat is concentrated, then leave it to act for about 20 minutes.
At this point, proceed to wash the garment normally in the washing machine, also adding a spoonful of vinegar to the drum of the washing machine for a more effective effect!
NB There seems to be a long debate that vinegar could have a polluting effect on the environment. In any case, it is always preferable to commercially available detergents.
Lemon
After baking soda and vinegar, we can’t fail to mention lemon, the citrus fruit known for its many properties and especially for its intoxicating, all-natural scent, which can also eliminate bad odors in the bathroom!
Simply pour the juice of three squeezed lemons into a bowl of cold water and then immerse the garment in it. At this point, let it soak for 30 minutes, then rinse the garment and dry it: goodbye to stinky sweat!
NB We do not recommend using this remedy on dark clothes, as the bleaching function of lemon could discolor them.
salt
But the pantry ingredients that can come to your rescue to remove the smell of sweat from your clothes are not over here, since we must also mention salt, known for its absorbent function. Unsurprisingly, it is used to absorb excess moisture in the house!
Then mix half a cup of table salt and a bowl of warm water, then pour the resulting mixture into the armpit area of the garment. Then, let it sit for about half an hour and proceed to machine or hand wash.
Rosemary
This may seem like a strange trick, but it seems to work very well: rosemary, which is able to perfume and eliminate bad odors from clothes.
Then immerse several sprigs of rosemary in a basin containing hot water and then soak your shirts that smell of sweat for a few hours. After that, gently rub the armpit area with the sprigs of rosemary and proceed with the usual washing: the odor will disappear in the blink of an eye!
Natural deodorant
Finally, let’s see together how to prepare a natural deodorant to make yourself, to spray on your shirt before washing. Then mix 500 ml of water at room temperature with 150 ml of white vinegar and 100 ml of lemon juice. Then let the mixture sit for a few hours and put it in a spray bottle or vaporizer.
At this stage, all you have to do is spray the mixture on the points of the garment where you smell the smell of sweat and leave it to act for 15 minutes, before rinsing: the smell of sweat will be nothing more than a bad memory!
NB On dark clothes, limit the use of the product because the lemon juice could slightly discolor the fabric.
How to avoid the smell of sweat
So far, we have seen how to remove the smell of sweat from clothes, but it is good to know other useful tips to prevent the problem.
First of all, we advise you to wash your clothes regularly to prevent the bad odors trapped in the fabric from becoming more difficult to eliminate. Additionally, it would be a good idea to always let the sweat evaporate before placing your garment in the laundry basket or washing machine.
Always check the washing labels on your shirts before trying the suggested remedies to avoid damaging them.
