Slow Cooker chicken and dumplings

  1. Layer Ingredients: Start by placing the chicken, chopped onion, and butter in the slow cooker. Sprinkle with seasonings.
  2. Add Liquids: Pour in chicken broth and cream of chicken soup. Stir everything together.
  3. Cook: Set the slow cooker on low for 6-7 hours or high for 4 hours.
  4. Shred Chicken: After cooking, shred the chicken into chunks and stir.
  5. Add Dumplings: Place biscuit dough (or rolled dumplings if you’re making them from scratch) on top of the mixture. Let them cook for another 1-2 hours until they’re cooked through and golden.

You can thicken the soup base with a cornstarch mixture before adding the dumplings if needed. Some recipes also suggest adding frozen vegetables during the last hour for extra flavor and nutrition​
