🥐 Quick & Easy Homemade Prussians (Palmiers)
Instructions:
-
Preheat oven:
-
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
-
-
Prepare the puff pastry:
-
Roll out your puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface (if it’s not already rolled).
-
Brush the pastry with melted butter and sprinkle the sugar evenly over the surface.
-
-
Form the palmier shape:
-
Starting from one edge of the pastry, fold the sides inward toward the center, about halfway.
-
Repeat the folding from the other side, until the two edges meet in the middle.
-
Fold both sides again towards the center to form a tight roll. (You’ll end up with a long, rectangular roll.)
-
Slice the rolled pastry into 1/2-inch pieces.
-
-
Arrange on the baking sheet:
-
Place the individual pieces on the parchment-lined baking sheet, spacing them about 1 inch apart.
-
-
Bake:
-
Bake for 12–15 minutes or until golden brown and caramelized, flipping the palmiers halfway through for even browning.
-
-
Cool and serve:
-
Let the palmiers cool slightly before serving.
