Preheat Oven:

Preheat to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking tray with foil or parchment, or use a loaf pan.

Make the Meat Mixture:

In a large bowl, combine ground meat, onion, garlic, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, and seasonings.

Mix just until combined (don’t overwork it).

Assemble the Meatloaf:

On a sheet of parchment or foil, flatten the meat mixture into a rectangle (about ½ inch thick).

Spread mashed potatoes down the center, leaving space at the edges.

Sprinkle cheese over the mashed potatoes.

Roll and Seal:

Carefully lift the sides of the meat and fold it over the filling, sealing the edges to form a loaf.

Transfer to baking tray or loaf pan, seam side down.

Bake:

Brush the top with ketchup or BBQ sauce if using.

Bake for 50–60 minutes, or until cooked through (internal temp should be 160°F / 71°C).

Let rest 10 minutes before slicing.
