For a long-term solution, professional evaluation is essential. If a structural issue is identified:
The damaged plaster may need to be removed and redone with a waterproofing liquid mixed into the new plaster.
If the moisture is rising from below, the bottom meter of the wall may need to be broken and reconstructed using a waterproofing membrane.
Once the bottom section is protected, the top will stop absorbing moisture from the ground.
Sea Salt: Place bowls of sea salt near damp walls to absorb moisture gradually.
Baking Soda: Works like sea salt—just place containers of baking soda near affected areas.
Tea Tree Oil: Mix 2 tablespoons of tea tree oil with 2 cups of water and apply to damp areas to eliminate mold and mildew.
