Seek immediate medical attention if you experience tingling along with any of the following symptoms:
Sudden onset of tingling or numbness
Recent head injury
Tingling involving an entire arm or leg
Weakness or paralysis
Confusion, difficulty speaking, or dizziness
Severe headache
Tingling that worsens over time or comes and goes
Tingling that affects both sides of the body
Numbness related to specific activities (like repetitive motions)
Persistent tingling in toes or fingers only
Your doctor may perform neurological tests, blood work, or imaging studies to rule out serious causes such as nerve compression, vitamin deficiency, or neurological disease.
That tingling âpins and needlesâ feeling is usually harmless â a result of temporary pressure on nerves. But if it occurs frequently, lasts longer than a few minutes, or is accompanied by other symptoms, itâs time to get checked.
Listening to your body is key. What feels like a small nuisance could be an early sign of something that needs attention.
