How to Make Bacon Cheeseburger Tater Tot Cones
1. Prepare the Crispy Tater Tot Cones
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Form aluminum foil into cone-shaped molds or use pre-made cone molds designed for food shaping.
Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
In a large bowl, toss tater tots with vegetable oil, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Allow the seasoning to coat evenly.
Press the seasoned tater tots onto the foil cones, forming a tight outer shell. Make sure each tot connects to the next for structural support. The tots should overlap slightly to ensure a stable cone.
Place cones on a baking sheet and bake for 25–35 minutes, or until golden brown and crisp. Rotate occasionally for even cooking.
When done, allow them to cool slightly before gently removing the molds. You should have crisp, hollow tater tot cones ready to fill.
2. Cook the Bacon for Maximum Flavor
Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add chopped bacon and cook until crispy and browned. Remove using a slotted spoon and set aside. Keep 1 tablespoon of bacon grease in the pan for enhanced flavor.
3. Prepare the Cheeseburger Filling
Add diced onions to the skillet and sauté until softened and fragrant.
Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it into crumbles as it cooks. Drain excess grease if needed.
Season with Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Stir to combine.
Return crispy bacon to the skillet, mixing it into the beef mixture.
Reduce heat to low, sprinkle in cheddar and mozzarella cheeses, and stir until melted and fully incorporated. The filling should be rich, gooey, and flavorful.
4. Make the Signature Burger Sauce
In a bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, relish, garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika. Taste and adjust seasoning to your preference.
This creamy sauce will elevate the dish by adding tang, sweetness, and classic burger flavors.
5. Assemble the Bacon Cheeseburger Tater Tot Cones
Hold each tater tot cone upright and generously spoon the hot cheeseburger filling inside until packed full.
Top with fresh shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, pickles, or additional bacon crumbles for extra crunch and brightness.
Drizzle with burger sauce or serve with dipping sauce on the side.
