Aunt Faye’s Pound Cake – A Slice of Love and Family Tradition

There’s something timeless about a good pound cake.

This one comes straight from my Aunt Faye — simple, soft, and full of flavor. It’s not heavy at all, but rich and buttery with just a touch of almond and vanilla. The lemon glaze on top makes every bite melt-in-your-mouth perfection.

What I love most is how it fills the kitchen with that warm, sweet aroma that says “home.” Whether you enjoy it warm or at room temp, it’s one of those cakes that never lasts long. Everyone always wants “just one more slice.”

🧈 Ingredients:

Cake:

1 box Duncan Hines butter recipe cake mix

1 cup cake flour

1 cup sugar

1 cup sour cream (room temp)

1 stick butter (room temp)

5 large eggs (room temp)

¼ cup oil

¼ cup water

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 tsp butter flavoring

1 tsp almond extract

Glaze:

2 cups powdered sugar

¼ cup lemon juice

👩‍🍳 Directions:

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease your Bundt or tube pan well.

Mix all cake ingredients together until smooth (don’t overmix).

Pour batter into the pan and bake for 55–65 minutes. Let cool 10–15 minutes before inverting.

Mix powdered sugar and lemon juice into a thick glaze.

Pour glaze over the warm cake — let it soak in a little.

Serve it warm or cooled… it doesn’t matter. It’s love in every slice.
