Directions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for about 5 minutes, or until frothy.

  2. Add the melted butter, egg, and salt to the yeast mixture. Stir until well combined.

  3. Gradually add the flour, mixing until a soft dough forms.

  4. Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead for 5–7 minutes, until smooth and elastic.

  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

  6. Punch down the dough. It’s now ready to be shaped and used in your favorite recipes.
