Step 1: Prepare the Dough
In a small bowl, mix warm milk, yeast, and 1 tsp sugar. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, remaining sugar, and salt.
Add the yeast mixture, melted butter, and eggs. Mix until a dough forms.
Knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for 1–1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.
Step 2: Shape & Fry the Donuts
Roll out the dough to ½-inch thickness and cut out circles using a 2.5-inch cutter.
Place them on a floured surface, cover, and let them rest for 30 minutes.
Heat oil in a deep pot to 350°F (175°C).
Fry the donuts in batches for 1–2 minutes per side, until golden brown.
Drain on a paper towel and roll in granulated or powdered sugar while warm.
Step 3: Make the Hazelnut Cream Filling
In a bowl, whisk heavy cream and powdered sugar until soft peaks form.
Gently fold in the hazelnut spread until smooth.
Step 4: Fill the Donuts
Poke a hole in each donut with a piping tip or knife.
Pipe the hazelnut cream into the center of each donut.
Step 5: Serve & Enjoy!
