Potato Fritters
Instructions:
Prepare the Potatoes:
Peel and grate the potatoes. Place the grated potatoes in a clean kitchen towel or cheesecloth, and squeeze out as much excess moisture as possible. This step helps the fritters become crispy.
Mix the Fritter Batter:
In a large bowl, combine the grated potatoes, flour, egg, grated cheese, chopped onion, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Stir everything together until well combined. The mixture should hold together well but still be a bit moist.
Heat the Oil:
Heat 2-3 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat.
Form the Fritters:
Take spoonfuls of the potato mixture and form small patties or fritters, pressing them gently to flatten. Place the patties into the hot skillet.
Fry the Fritters:
Fry the fritters for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy. Don’t overcrowd the pan; you may need to cook them in batches.
Drain and Serve:
Once cooked, remove the fritters from the skillet and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil.
Optional Garnish:
Garnish with freshly chopped parsley for a fresh touch.
Serve your Potato Fritters with sour cream, ketchup, or your favorite dipping sauce for added flavor. These fritters make a great side dish, snack, or appetizer!
Enjoy your crispy, delicious Potato Fritters!
