Ingredients:
For the filling:

1 lb ground beef (or lamb, if you prefer)

1 medium onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 large carrot, peeled and diced

1 cup frozen peas

2 tablespoons tomato paste

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1 cup beef broth (or vegetable broth for a lighter flavor)

1/2 cup red wine (optional but adds depth)

1 teaspoon dried thyme

Salt and pepper, to taste

2 tablespoons olive oil or butter for sautéing
For the mashed potatoes:

2 lbs potatoes (Yukon Golds are great for a creamy texture)

1/2 cup heavy cream (or milk if you prefer a lighter version)

4 tablespoons butter

Salt and pepper, to taste

A pinch of grated nutmeg (optional, but it adds a lovely depth)
