Ingredients

  • 4 large flour tortillas (8–10 inch)
  • 8 slices of ham (deli-style or leftover ham)
  • 4 slices of cheese (cheddar, Swiss, or American)
  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise or mustard (optional spread)
  • 1 tbsp butter or oil (for brushing)
  • Toothpicks (to secure wraps)

How To Make Air Fryer Hot Ham and Cheese Wraps

  1. Preheat Air Fryer – Set to 190°C (375°F) for 3 minutes.
  2. Assemble Wraps – Lay out each tortilla and spread with mayonnaise or mustard if using. Place 2 slices of ham and 1 slice of cheese in the centre.
  3. Wrap Tightly – Roll up the tortilla, folding in the sides to seal. Secure with a toothpick if needed.
  4. Brush with Butter – Lightly brush the outside with melted butter or oil for a golden finish.
  5. Cook – Place wraps seam-side down in the air fryer basket. Cook for 6–8 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and cheese is melted.
  6. Serve – Slice diagonally and serve warm.

You Must Know

  • Secure the Wraps – Toothpicks help keep them from unrolling while cooking.
  • Don’t Overfill – Too much filling makes them burst open in the fryer.
  • Cheese Choice Matters – Use a cheese that melts well (cheddar, mozzarella, Swiss).
  • Crisp Factor – Brushing with butter or oil ensures a golden crust.

Topping Variations

  • Cheesy Upgrade – Add extra shredded cheese before rolling.
  • Veggie Boost – Include spinach, tomatoes, or caramelised onions.
  • Spicy Kick – Add jalapeños, hot sauce, or pepper jack cheese.
  • Italian Style – Use mozzarella, pepperoni, and marinara dipping sauce.
  • Breakfast Twist – Add scrambled eggs for a morning wrap.

Make It a Meal

  • Serve with crispy air fryer chips or wedges.
  • Pair with a side salad for a lighter option.
  • Dip into ranch, honey mustard, or barbecue sauce.
  • Add a bowl of tomato or vegetable soup for a cosy meal.

Pro Tips

  • Don’t overcrowd the basket – cook in batches if needed.
  • Use whole wheat or low-carb tortillas for a healthier option.
  • To reheat, air fry leftovers at 160°C (320°F) for 3–4 minutes.
  • For extra crispiness, sprinkle grated Parmesan on the buttered wrap before cooking.
  • Wraps can be made ahead and stored in the fridge, then cooked fresh.

Recipe FAQs

Can I use different meats?
Yes – turkey, chicken, or roast beef work well as substitutes.

Can I make these ahead of time?
Absolutely. Assemble the wraps, store in the fridge (up to 24 hours), and air fry when ready.

How do I keep them from getting soggy?
Avoid overloading with sauces inside; serve dips on the side instead.

Do I need parchment paper?
Optional, but it helps with cleanup and prevents cheese leaks from sticking.

Can I freeze them?
Yes. Wrap unbaked wraps tightly in foil, freeze, and air fry from frozen, adding 3–4 minutes.

Instructions

  1. Warm the tortillas: Start by placing the tortillas on a microwave safe plate, then place a damp paper towel over them. Microwave the tortillas for 20-30 seconds until warm. This will make the tortillas easier to fold without them cracking.
  2. Preheat the air fryer to 380 degrees Fahrenheit and set the timer for 5 minutes.
  3. Spread a thin layer of mayonnaise and Dijon mustard onto the tortillas.
  4. Add 2 slices of ham, then a slice of Swiss cheese to each tortilla.
  5. Roll each tortilla up like a burrito by folding the sides in and tightly rolling them. See my video or my process shots above if you need to see how to roll these.
  6. Brush the top of each wrap with melted butter using a basting brush.
  7. Place the wraps into the air fryer seam down and cook for 5 minutes until golden brown. Check on them halfway through.
  8. Remove wraps from air fryer. Let them cool. Then cut them in half or diagonally and enjoy!

Notes

*Store leftovers in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to 2 days.

*To reheat, preheat the air fryer to 360 degrees Fahrenheit and heat for 1-2 minutes.

*Allow the wraps to cool down after they come out of the air fryer. They will be hot!

*The air fryer I used was my Instant Vortex Plus 6 quart. Since every air fryer is different, you will need to adjust this recipe to your air fryer accordingly. For instance, you make need to cook these a minute longer or shorter depending on your air fryer and personal preference on how dark you want your tortillas.
