🧈 Buttermilk Biscuits with Honey Butter Glaze

Ingredients

For the Biscuits

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 tablespoon baking powder

  • ½ teaspoon baking soda

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 1 tablespoon sugar (optional, for slight sweetness)

  • 6 tablespoons cold unsalted butter, cubed

  • ¾ cup cold buttermilk

For the Honey Butter Glaze

  • ¼ cup unsalted butter

  • 3 tablespoons honey

  • 1 tablespoon milk or cream (optional, for thinner glaze)

Instructions

1. Prepare the Dough

Preheat oven to 220°C (425°F). Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and sugar.
Add the cold butter cubes and cut them into the flour using your fingers or a pastry cutter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

2. Add Buttermilk

Pour in the cold buttermilk and gently mix until the dough just comes together. Do not overmix—this keeps the biscuits tender.

3. Shape the Biscuits

Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface. Gently pat it into a 1-inch thick rectangle.
Fold the dough over itself once or twice for extra flakiness, then pat again.
Cut biscuits using a round cutter or glass.

4. Bake

Place biscuits close together on the baking tray.
Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown.

Honey Butter Glaze

While the biscuits bake, melt butter in a small saucepan over low heat.
Stir in honey and milk (if using) until smooth and glossy.

Finish & Serve

Brush the warm biscuits generously with honey butter glaze as soon as they come out of the oven.
Serve warm for best flavor—soft inside, golden outside, and perfectly sweet.
