Old-Fashioned Amish Peanut Butter Dream Pie

Ingredients

Crust

  • 1 (9-inch) baked pie crust (homemade or store-bought, fully cooled)

Peanut Butter Crumble Layer

  • ¾ cup creamy peanut butter

  • ¾ cup powdered sugar

Cream Filling

  • 1 (8 oz / 225 g) package cream cheese, softened

  • 1 cup powdered sugar

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1½ cups cold heavy whipping cream

Topping (optional but traditional)

  • Whipped cream

  • Chocolate shavings or a drizzle of chocolate syrup

Instructions

  1. Make the Peanut Butter Crumbles
In a bowl, mix the peanut butter and powdered sugar with a fork until crumbly and sandy.
Press half of this mixture evenly over the bottom of the baked pie crust.

  2. Prepare the Cream Filling
In a mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth.
Add powdered sugar and vanilla, and mix until creamy.

  3. Whip the Cream
In a separate bowl, whip the cold heavy cream until stiff peaks form.

  4. Combine
Gently fold the whipped cream into the cream cheese mixture until light and fluffy.

  5. Assemble the Pie
Spoon the filling over the peanut butter layer in the crust and smooth the top.
Sprinkle the remaining peanut butter crumbles evenly over the filling.

  6. Chill
Refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight for best texture.

  7. Serve
Top with whipped cream and chocolate shavings if you like. Slice and enjoy!

Tips

  • For a more traditional Amish feel, use a homemade butter pie crust.

  • This pie freezes well—just thaw in the fridge before serving.

  • If you prefer a lighter sweetness, reduce the powdered sugar slightly.
