🧈 Ingredients:
40 salted saltine crackers (about 1 sleeve)
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
1 cup packed brown sugar
2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
1/4 teaspoon salt (optional if using unsalted crackers)
1/2 cup festive sprinkles (red, green, white, silver for Christmas)
🍬 Instructions:
1. Prepare the base
Line a baking sheet (about 10×15 inches) with parchment paper or aluminum foil.
Arrange saltine crackers in a single layer, covering the entire pan.
2. Make the toffee
In a saucepan, melt butter and brown sugar over medium heat.
Bring the mixture to a gentle boil and stir constantly for 3–4 minutes until thick and bubbly.
(Optional) Add vanilla extract and salt for extra flavor.
3. Pour over crackers
Carefully pour the hot toffee mixture evenly over the crackers.
Use a spatula to spread it out so every cracker is coated.
4. Bake
Place the pan in a preheated oven at 400°F (200°C) for 5–6 minutes, or until the toffee is bubbly and slightly darkened.
5. Add chocolate
Remove from the oven and immediately sprinkle chocolate chips on top.
Let them sit for 2 minutes to melt, then spread evenly with a spatula.
6. Decorate
While the chocolate is still soft, sprinkle on Christmas sprinkles, M&Ms, or crushed candy canes.
For a gooey caramel touch like the image, drizzle extra melted caramel over the top before chilling.
7. Chill and break
Refrigerate for about 1 hour, or until firm.
Once set, break into pieces — large chunks or bite-sized bars.
🎄 Tips:
Store in an airtight container for up to 1 week at room temperature or 2 weeks in the fridge.
You can substitute saltines with graham crackers or pretzels for a twist.
