Instructions

Step 1: Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish and set aside.

Step 2: Cook the Beef

Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain excess grease if needed.

Step 3: Sauté the Vegetables

Add the diced onion, green pepper, red pepper, and garlic to the skillet. Cook for 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the vegetables are softened.

Season with salt, black pepper, and Worcestershire sauce.

Step 4: Add the Sauce

Pour in the beef broth. If you prefer a thicker casserole, stir the cornstarch into a small amount of cold water and add it to the skillet. Simmer for 2–3 minutes until slightly thickened.

Remove from heat.

Step 5: Assemble the Casserole

Transfer the beef mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle mozzarella (or provolone) evenly over the top, followed by cheddar cheese if using. Finish with dried parsley or Italian seasoning.

Step 6: Bake

Bake uncovered for 20–25 minutes, or until the cheese is fully melted and lightly golden on top.

Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
