💧 Our Favorite Chemical-Free Rain Barrel Hack: Feeder Goldfish! 🐠

For nearly a decade, we’ve been using old whiskey barrels to collect rainwater for our garden. Early on, I read all the warnings about mosquitoes—people suggesting fancy plastic barrels or chemical treatments. Honestly, it seemed like way too much fuss for something so simple.

Around here, we try to keep things as natural and chemical-free as possible. So we found a better solution—feeder goldfish!

Every spring, we head to the pet store and pick up a few inexpensive feeder goldfish (just a couple bucks each). They live in our rain barrels all summer long—and they’re amazing little helpers:

🐟 They eat every mosquito larva that dares to hatch. No chemicals needed!

đŸŒ± They help control algae and keep the water clear.

💧 They require zero maintenance—rainwater takes care of everything.

🎉 They get to enjoy a peaceful summer
