Crispy Fried Okra

Crispy Fried Okra Bites are a Southern favorite, full of crispy, crunchy goodness on the outside and tender on the inside. Start by cutting 2 cups of fresh okra into bite-sized pieces. If using frozen okra, make sure it’s thawed and drained well.

In a bowl, whisk together 1 cup of buttermilk, 1 egg, and a pinch of salt and pepper. In a separate shallow bowl, combine 1 cup of cornmeal, 1/2 cup of all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon of garlic powder, 1 teaspoon of onion powder, and 1/2 teaspoon of paprika for flavor.

Dip the okra pieces into the buttermilk mixture, allowing any excess to drip off, and then dredge them in the cornmeal mixture, pressing gently to coat each piece evenly.
