This Monday, March 24th, marks the start of the trial of Mounir Boutaa, accused of murdering his wife, Chahinez Daoud. As reported by franceinfo , she endured a horrific ordeal for several years before being burned alive.

On May 4, 2021, France was devastated by the death of Chahinez Daoud , a mother of three, who was killed in horrific circumstances. After being shot twice in the legs, the 31-year-old woman was doused with gasoline and burned alive in front of her home in Mérignac (Gironde) by Mounir Boutaa, her estranged husband. As reported by franceinfo , the accused, whose trial began on Monday, March 24, 2025, at the Gironde Assize Court, had subjected his ex-wife to physical and psychological abuse for many years. Several of the victim’s relatives recounted this ordeal . Mounir Boutaa’s behavior reportedly changed in March 2016 , when Chahinez Daoud permanently left Algeria to settle in France.
