Ingredients:
800 g ā 1 kg beef (chuck roast or steak, sliced thick)
2 large onions, sliced
3 cloves garlic, minced
2 tbsp oil or butter
2 tbsp flour
2 cups beef broth
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp mustard (optional)
Salt & pepper to taste
1 tsp paprika (optional)
Fresh thyme or parsley (optional)
Instructions:
Sear the beef
Season beef with salt and pepper.
Heat oil in a pan and sear meat until browned on both sides.
Remove and set aside.
Cook the onions
In the same pan, add onions and cook until soft and golden.
Add garlic and cook 1 minute.
Make the gravy
Sprinkle flour over onions and stir for 1ā2 minutes.
Slowly add beef broth while stirring to avoid lumps.
Add Worcestershire sauce, mustard, and paprika.
Combine and cook
Return beef to the pan and coat with sauce.
Cover and simmer on low heat for 1.5ā2 hours (or bake at 160°C).
Finish
Sauce should be thick and rich.
Taste and adjust seasoning.
Garnish with herbs if desired.
