🥖 Philly Cheesesteak Garlic Bread

Ingredients

  • 1 large French bread or 4–6 sub rolls
  • 450 g ground beef or thinly sliced steak
  • 1 green bell pepper, diced
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 200–250 g provolone or mozzarella, shredded/sliced
  • Chopped parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 200°C / 400°F.
  2. Cook the beef in a skillet until browned. Drain excess fat.
  3. Add onion and green pepper and cook for about 4–5 minutes until softened.
  4. Stir in Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Cook another 1–2 minutes.
  5. Mix softened butter with minced garlic. Slice the bread lengthwise and spread the garlic butter over it.
  6. Toast the bread for 4–5 minutes.
  7. Spoon the beef mixture generously over the bread.
  8. Cover with provolone or mozzarella.
  9. Bake for another 7–10 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbling. Broil for 1–2 minutes if you want the browned top shown in the photo.
  10. Sprinkle with parsley and serve hot.
