Recipe: Pot Roast With Gravy (Slow Cooker Style)

Ingredients:

  • 1.5–2 kg beef chuck roast (pot roast)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt and black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 4–5 garlic cloves (minced)
  • 1 large onion (sliced)
  • 4–5 potatoes (halved)
  • 3–4 carrots (cut into large pieces)
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 2 tbsp flour (for gravy)

Instructions:

  1. Season the beef generously with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and thyme.
  2. Sear the roast in hot olive oil until browned on all sides.
  3. Place onions, potatoes, and carrots in a slow cooker.
  4. Add the browned roast on top.
  5. Mix beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, garlic, and tomato paste, then pour over the meat.
  6. Cook on LOW for 8–9 hours or HIGH for 4–5 hours until the beef is very tender.
  7. Remove the roast and vegetables.
  8. For the gravy, mix some cooking liquid with flour and simmer until thick and smooth.
  9. Pour the rich gravy over the pot roast and serve warm.

Result: tender beef that falls apart, with soft vegetables and a deep homemade gravy. 🍖🥔🥕
