In Haute-Garonne, a landowner got fed up with squatters illegally occupying his land. His solution is radical.

Cases of squatters occupying someone else’s land or house are not uncommon. At least, some have received significant media attention and caused several scandals in France. The slowness of the eviction process has sometimes led desperate homeowners to move out while the matter is being resolved.

Faced with these sad and absurd situations, a bill aimed at protecting housing against illegal occupation is currently being debated in Parliament. These events are unfortunately not unique to France. But recently, a French landowner decided to take a rather violent approach to evicting the occupants of his property.

This landlord is using drastic measures to get rid of squatters.
The most publicized squatting cases hardly give an accurate picture of the scale of the problem. According to Capital, 124 requests for legal proceedings related to squatters were filed with the prefectures between January and May 2021.
